Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Unlock HSA, including the website, web application, and related services.

By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Unlock HSA is a consumer-facing HSA recordkeeping and reimbursement documentation tool. It helps users organize medical-expense records, process documents through Intake, review OCR and AI-assisted suggestions, track reimbursements, use Smart Withdraw planning tools, generate audit-package exports, review yearly reconciliation comparisons, and optionally connect storage providers such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Unlock HSA is not a tax preparer, claims processor, insurer, health plan, HSA custodian, financial advisor, legal advisor, medical provider, or accounting firm.

Unlock HSA provides organization, workflow, review, and recordkeeping tools only.

Nothing in the service is tax, legal, financial, accounting, medical, or insurance advice.

You should consult qualified professionals for advice about HSA eligibility, substantiation, reimbursement timing, tax positions, and related legal or financial questions.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter or upload and for the decisions you make using the service.

• You are responsible for determining whether an expense is eligible, whether reimbursement is appropriate, and whether your records are complete enough for your needs.
• You are responsible for substantiation, reimbursement timing, tax reporting, and the positions you take in any filing or audit response.
• You must review OCR and AI-assisted suggestions before relying on them.
• You should keep copies of important records and not rely on Unlock HSA as your only storage location.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity that occurs under your account, except to the extent caused by our failure to maintain reasonable security for the service itself.

• Use a strong password and protect access to your email account.
• Notify Unlock HSA promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
• Do not share your account in a way that bypasses intended access controls.

You may use the service only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not interfere with the security, integrity, or availability of the service.

• Do not upload malware, harmful code, or unlawful content.
• Do not abuse intake email addresses, ZIP imports, or other workflows to create spam, excessive load, or unrelated content processing.
• Do not try to bypass limits, scanning, authentication, or other security controls.
• Do not reverse engineer, probe, or misuse the service or connected-provider integrations except as allowed by law.
• Do not upload or submit records unless you have the rights and authority to do so, including authority to manage dependent or family-member records where applicable.

You retain ownership of the content you upload or submit to the service.

You grant Unlock HSA a limited license to host, process, transmit, encrypt, back up, analyze, and display that content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service for you.

• This includes uploaded files, OCR and AI processing outputs, inbound email content, metadata, and audit-package exports created at your direction.
• You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload or submit the content you use with the service.
• You should not upload unrelated illegal, harmful, or abusive material.

OCR, document analysis, duplicate warnings, trust summaries, reconciliation comparisons, and similar automated features are assistive tools only.

They may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or unavailable.

They do not create binding legal, tax, medical, or financial conclusions.

Smart Withdraw, audit-package generation, and annual 1099-SA reconciliation are planning and organization tools only.

An audit package does not guarantee IRS acceptance, tax treatment, reimbursement eligibility, or any audit outcome.

An audit package can help you organize and preserve supporting records, but it does not guarantee that any reimbursement, tax position, or recordkeeping approach will be accepted by the IRS or any other authority.

Yearly reconciliation comparisons are not tax filing, tax preparation, or form generation.

Google Drive and Dropbox are optional connected storage providers. If you connect one, you authorize Unlock HSA to access the provider data and metadata needed to support the connected features you choose.

Provider availability, authorization changes, or provider-side errors may affect access to files stored there through the app.

You are responsible for your provider accounts and for any files that remain in your own Google Drive or Dropbox account or in files you downloaded outside Unlock HSA.

Some parts of the service may be available without charge. Paid plans, subscriptions, or feature tiers may be offered in the future.

If Unlock HSA introduces paid plans or materially changes pricing for a paid feature you use, we will provide notice before the change takes effect.

Unlock HSA may apply reasonable storage, upload, processing, import, export, and connected-copy limits to protect the service and keep plans sustainable. We will aim to make applicable limits clear in the product or plan details.

Some features may be experimental, limited, private-pilot, or beta features, including payer or insurance integrations if and when they are made available.

Experimental features may change, be limited, or be discontinued at any time.

Payer-derived EOB or claim data, where available, is evidence support only and is not a guarantee of eligibility, completeness, or correctness.

We may change, pause, limit, or discontinue features at any time, including storage integrations, OCR and AI workflows, intake paths, audit-package features, and reconciliation features.

The service may experience interruptions, maintenance windows, delays, or provider-related outages.

You may stop using the service at any time.

We may suspend, deactivate, or limit access if we reasonably believe it is necessary for misuse, security, fraud, legal compliance, or protection of the service or other users.

If your account is deactivated or deleted, you should export any records you want to keep before access ends where reasonably possible.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law.

Unlock HSA does not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect accuracy, or a particular tax, reimbursement, or audit outcome.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unlock HSA and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or business opportunities arising out of or related to the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of Unlock HSA and its operators for claims arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to use the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or $100.

You agree to be responsible for claims arising from your unlawful misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

These Terms do not yet include jurisdiction-specific governing-law, venue, arbitration, or dispute-resolution language. Unlock HSA may update this section after legal review.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the date on this page and may provide additional notice through the service.
